The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between God and Mammon, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish film adaptation of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye commence monetising the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, overdone appearance and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain manages to show the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, Film4
